Hey Des. Glad to make this little spider a little less scary. I'm actually in the Florida Keys at the moment, and there are loads of these all over the place, along with their bigger friends the Golden Orb Web Spider - which is MUCH bigger, with ENORMOUSLY long legs and still freaks me out at times...
Thank you for making this very strange, scary looking spider a little less scary. When I saw it on my pool porch, I was a bit "freaked out", but now not so much. Not only does this spider have a wow, unique look, it also does have a beautiful, intricate web like you mentioned (which makes me wonder how long it took for her to build this bugger--I'm on my porch a lot and didnt notice it until this morning).

Our hedera is swarming with asps in the late autumn sunshine, (south-east England). Our gardener said they were attracted to a pair of gardening gloves he left lying on the lawn, having previously used them while cutting back ivy - the scent must be really strong!

hah!Even as I speak my cat Ludwig is trying to shove his head under the desk lamp for a sauna, I can try to discourage it, worrying about third degree cat burns, but no, he must have the heat. Very clever, thanks for sharing!

I agree whole heartedly for one thing it wasn't advertised enough and i hav already missed at least 2 programmes. But for those of us who cant get out to watch wildlife for ourselves it was great to have it on telly every night. And as for those who have said they'd much rather be out watching it for real so dont want to be stuck in watching it on telly surely the real thing is much better so they're not really missing it if they dont stay in are they ? I'd very much like the bbc to put it back the way it was.

hmmm..........it is awful - quite awful. The personalities have overpowered the wildlife. Very sad. My mum and her mates who loved it are all switching off and I think we are in the death throws of the programme. Clapping and sound track to rutting stags. Bad taste yuk. Turned off.
